Girona Airport (GRO/LEGE) is located just 13 kilometres outside the city of Girona Girona (catalan: Girona/spanish: Gerona) on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain. It is mainly used by low-cost airlines and is therefore popular with tourists visiting the Costa Brava.
However, Girona Airport is also of interest to visitors to Barcelona. The Catalan capital and metropolis of Barcelona is only 90 kilometres away and there are good connections between the airport and Barcelona.

How do I get to Barcelona from Girona airport?

By shuttle bus from Sagalés to Barcelona – direct, easy and convenient
There is a direct bus service from Girona Airport to Barcelona North Bus Station. The journey takes approximately 75 minutes, without changing buses or stops.

Train connections Girona – Barcelona
In our opinion, travelling by train from Girona airport to Barcelona only makes sense if you also want to visit the city of Girona.
From Girona airport, you need to take a bus to the train station in the city centre, which is just about 13 kilometres from the airport. From there you can take a train to Barcelona. The journey takes around 1:45 – 2:30 hours (including transfer to the station + waiting time + depending on the type of train).

You can of course take a taxi from Girona to Barcelona. However, if you want to know the price in advance, we recommend booking a private shuttle service.

From the airport to Girona city center and the Costa Brava
Girona Airport is well served by public transport. It is also easy to reach by car or rental car.
There are several transfer options to the center of Girona or the Costa Brava:
- Bus: There is a good bus service between the airport and the city centre. Bus number 607 runs hourly between 4.00am and 0.00am. The journey takes half an hour. Tickets currently cost €2.80 (as of 2025).

- By taxi: Taxis are available in front of the terminal. The journey from the airport to Girona city center takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic. Currently (2025) a taxi ride costs around 25–30 euros.
Taxis are available outside the terminal to take travellers to the centre of Girona or the surrounding area.

Parking at Girona Airport
There are several parking facilities at the airport. In addition to the short stay and express car parks directly in front of the terminal entrance, there is a large, modern multi-storey car park (AENA Aeropuerto de Girona – Multi-storey Car Park) with a total of 3,600 parking spaces on 6 levels. The car park is located in front of the terminal.
Parking fees 2025: 10 euros for 24 hours, 1 week costs 50 euros.

Overview: Terminal at Girona Airport
Girona Airport is a small airport with only one terminal. The modern terminal has a total of 15 boarding gates.
The arrivals area and baggage carousels are located on the ground floor. The departures area with the boarding area is on the first floor. Although the airport is small, it has a lot to offer to make the waiting time as pleasant as possible. There are several restaurants and cafés as well as various shops.
There is a taxi rank outside the terminal. There are bus stops next to the terminal.
Girona Airport is small and easy to navigate – it is very quiet, especially in the low season.
Girona Airport is mainly served by low-cost airlines. It offers travellers a cheap alternative to the large Barcelona-El Prat airport.
